The co-host this wknd is Kane Brown, back for a second week as Lon’s co-host, with more about his forthcoming album “The High Road.” He’s looking forward to his daughter Kingsley’s 5th birthday, and one of his hits has now gone Diamond for sales of 10 million copies. Plus lots of stories about Kane’s friends in the countdown.
Monday was Kane’s 31st birthday. Feel any different? “Not really, but I will say time’s flying by now. It was before, but now it’s even faster.”
Tuesday will be Kingsley’s 5th birthday: “We gotta have cotton candy and balloons everywhere and a theme. I think this year we’re going to Disney. We did last year, and we’ll go again.”
Kane’s fourth album, The High Road, will be released in January. Two weeks ago, Kane released a new song called “Backseat Driver.” He told Lon: “This song’s been going around Nashville for a while. Nobody took it, so when they brought it to me, I said ‘I want this.’ I told them it’ll be my next single, and they’re very excited.”
Lon asked Kane if his two older daughters go to school: “They’re actually in school now. We started this year. They’re home schooled. Every morning at 9, they get up & get dressed, they have backpacks, and they’re in school from 9 to 11.”
It’s been an amazing journey for Kane, from a small town to the top of the chart. Lon asked if he ever thinks about that: “Yes, I feel like I’m always moving forward because I’m scared of losing what I have. I have random times on my porch, when it’s the most surreal feeling. Just appreciate what you have.”
Lon asked Kane about his friendship with Post Malone: “I met him in 2017. His team told me Post wanted to do something with me. He would text me, ask if I wanted to hang out downtown. I have three kids, so I can’t hang out on Broadway all night. So I was disappointed that I wasn’t on his album. But we can do something down the road.”
Kane also has great stories this week about Tim McGraw, Jon Pardi, Jordan Davis, Lainey Wilson, and Dan & Shay.
NEXT WEEK: Tyler Hubbard
